Go Driving School - COVID-19 Safety

Precautionary Measures and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Go Driving School interest in teen driving safety extends beyond low-risk driving to students’ personal health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. To support the safe continuation of teen’s learning-to-drive process,  Go Driving School offers these tips to support ongoing efforts to deliver quality driver education in the safest environments possible:


For Classroom & Driving Instruction:

• 10 student class sessions

• Maintain social distancing at all times, including for student seating

• For both instructors and students, provide and use:

    - Masks covering the nose and mouth

    - Hand sanitizer

• Ensure instructors and students have access to facilities allowing hand-washing

• Before classroom instruction begins, consider screening instructors and students for COVID-19 symptoms:

    - This could include screening questions, temperature checks, and more

    - See the CDC’s COVID-19 symptoms information at CDC.gov

• Use disinfectant wipes on:

    - All door handles

    - All desks

    - All light switches

    - Computer keyboard and mouse

    - Any other surfaces likely to be touched by instructors or students

• To minimize student congregation:

    - Discourage early arrival of students before classroom sessions begin

    - Encourage students to be picked up upon completion of classroom sessions

• Modify classroom exercises to ensure appropriate distancing among students

• Minimize the number of persons in the vehicle (e.g., more than one student in back seat, parent aboard)

• Avoid using the air recirculation feature

• Windows down to the extent practicable

• Consider relaxing requirements for rescheduling missed sessions, if appropriate for Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

• Create, communicate, and execute a plan to maintain social distancing among students arriving/waiting for behind-the-wheel sessions to start and among those completing sessions

• Require instructors and students to thoroughly wash hands before and after each session

• For both instructors and students, provide and use:

   - Masks covering the nose and mouth

   - Hand sanitizer

• Before behind-the-wheel instruction begins, consider screening instructors and students for COVID-19 symptoms:

   - This could include screening questions, temperature checks, and more

   - See the CDC’s COVID-19 symptoms information at CDC.gov

• Provide gloves to instructors and students

• Schedule at least 15 minutes between behind-the-wheel sessions to allow time to thoroughly disinfect the training vehicle

• Use disinfectant wipes on:

   - All door handles

   - All driver and dashboard controls (e.g., switches, dials, buttons)

   - Keys

   - Steering wheel- rim and adjustment levers

   - Gear shift lever

   - Parking brake lever/button

   - Front and rear safety belts, including latching mechanisms

   - Center console

   - Seats and seat controls

   - Head restraints

   - Mirror controls

   - Any other surfaces likely to be touched by instructors or students
